Martin Reyes
Born in McAllen TX, Martin moved around a lot as a kid before settling back down in Texas as a teenager. Things changed frequently before settling back in the sleepy town of McAllen, and one of the few constants in his life was drawing. So, when he started dabbling in tattooing, scribbling on friends first in 11th grade, it seemed like the natural next step. It wasn’t until after high school that he really started to take his art seriously, eventually seeing that with hard work and grit, he could take what he loved and grow it into a full time career.
Knowing he wanted to pursue something artistic to earn a living, Martin went to college briefly. What he enjoyed most was the painting, drawing and digital design classes, which helped him determine which path he wanted to take, and it really furthered his art skills and knowledge. Eventually, he realized he wanted to pursue art down a path that didn’t include a degree, and officially- his professional tattoo career began in Spring of 2014, and as they say- the rest is history.
“I’m a self taught tattoo artist who continues to focus on bettering my tattoos art artistic skillset, so that people are proud to wear my tattoos. Art has been the main focus throughout my life, but it wasn’t til 2014 I decided to take it seriously and put all my effort into pursuing a career of tattooing.“His tattoos stand-out for their soft, velvety quality and smooth blends. Although he spent the early years of his tattoo career gaining experience in many different styles, typically, nowadays he sticks with black and grey projects only. Martin’s black and grey expertise is wide ranging, but some main areas of specialization include greek and roman scenes and figures, aztec/mayan influenced pieces, and Christianity themed tattoos. Outside of tattooing, Martin loves cooking, woodworking, gaming, and most of all-spending time with his wife and family.
